  It's always hard walking into an animal shelter for the sole reason of wanting to take home every animal that happens to make eye contact with you. And they all do. I don't know how most animal shelters work but this place doesn't adopt right away. They have an application and do a "best fit" for the animal. I love that to be honest. The reasoning behind it is that they want to make sure their animals will be treated with all the love they deserve. And equally as important is that the animal doesn't get returned to the shelter. That happens a lot more than one thinks. I applied for a dog that had 3 other families wanting him. They reviewed everyone's application and decided to go with a large family. I was disappointed but respected the decision. I think it's safe to say the best we want for animals is to make sure they're loved forever. Props to these guys!
